Description

This course, aimed at young kids from 8 to 12 years old, will prepare students with basic coding fundamentals such as problem solving, creative decision process, learning how to craft a storyline, iterate on their code and much more.  By the end of the course, students will have completed their own portfolio or 3 or more games.

Starting with an overview of the Gaming Industry landscape from the early days of modern games and its evolution through the years (consoles, iconic games, game demos, etc), students will learn the basic concepts of game development, technical terms and what they mean, various development platforms and much more.  They will be introduced to the MIT-created SCRATCH coding platform and assigned their own accounts for further learning, creation and development.
